Founded by Nikki Vargas, Unearth Women is a travel publication with a mission to lift women’s voices and show travelers how to support women worldwide. The name Unearth Women comes from the idea of "unearthing" women’s stories. The publication's mission rests in the belief that travelers are uniquely positioned to positively impact a destination by supporting its local women.

How Unearth Women Began
Unearth Women was founded in 2018 by author, writer, and editor Nikki Vargas. Within a year, Nikki took the concept of Unearth Women from an idea to the first feminist travel magazine to be sold in over 800 Barnes & Noble locations across the United States, including bookstores across Canada and select cities abroad. Unearth Women has since transitioned to a digital-only platform with the ongoing mission to continue bringing its Feminist City Guides and women-centric stories to audiences worldwide. In 2022, Unearth Women made its way back into bookstores with the release of its new women’s travel book, Wanderess. Unearth Women has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Good Morning America, Travel + Leisure, and more.
