Originally from Colombia, Nikki Vargas is a senior travel editor, published author, public speaker, and freelance writer now living in New York City.
Nikki is represented by the literary division of the Paradigm Talent Agency. Her first book, Wanderess, is an extensive women's travel resource published by the Clarkson Potter imprint at Penguin Random House in February 2022. Nikki's second book, Call You When I Land, is a travel memoir coming November 2023 from the Hanover Square Press imprint at HarperCollins. Call You When I Land has been named one of the best women's memoirs to come in 2023 by Glamour Magazine.
In addition, Nikki is a senior editor for Fodor's Travel and the Founder of Unearth Women, a women’s travel publication she founded back in 2018. Her work with Unearth Women has appeared in The New York Times, Good Morning America, CNN, Vogue Spain, and The Washington Post.
Previously, Nikki worked as a travel editor for The Infatuation, Atlas Obscura, and Culture Trip. In addition to her editorial experience, Nikki is a freelance writer with bylines in Cosmopolitan, Zagat, VICE, Food & Wine, Roads & Kingdoms, and more.
As a public speaker, Nikki has spoken at various travel conferences including the Women’s Travel Fest, Women in Travel Summit, Latino Travel Fest, the Travel + Adventure Show, and the former New York Times Travel Show.
